PARENT & FAMILY COACHING

You’ve read books and articles, listened to podcasts and tried to implement all the strategies you’ve learned, but are still struggling to see positive changes in your child’s behaviour, or your response to it. Even after trying your best, you might recognise that some of the patterns of behaviour and/or family routines feel really challenging. Perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed, or you are worried about recreating childhood patterns of your own. You want support to identify, challenge, and change the limiting beliefs, assumptions and negative thought patterns that prevent you from parenting in line with your values. If any of this sounds familiar to you, parent coaching might be a good solution.

Parent and Family coaching is designed to:

Cecilia Corbetta
  • Enhance Parenting Skills: Learn effective strategies to respond to parenting challenges, improve communication, and foster cooperation at home.

  • Build Stronger Relationships: Strengthen the bond with your children through improved understanding of their behaviour and awareness of your triggers.

  • Deepen self-awareness: Learn to recognise your triggers and manage your emotions more effectively so you can parent mindfully and intentionally.

  • Increase Confidence and Resilience: Build on your strengths as a parent, whilst adding to your ‘toolkit’ of strategies to fit your unique family dynamics and needs.

  • Reduce Stress: Find balance and joy in parenting by learning how to manage everyday challenges more effectively.

MY APPROACH

As a parent coach, my goal is to empower parents to become more confident, effective, and resilient. Rather than telling them what to do, I help parents discover their own strategies to address challenges. Through active listening and powerful questioning, I guide parents to unlock their potential, build on their strengths, and foster positive changes in their family life.

My experience as a therapist makes me particularly skilled at helping clients to identify and address any psychological barriers that might impact on growth. My approach to coaching is integrative and brings together elements of humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and systemic theories. Having trained in different modalities means I am able to adapt how I work to the unique needs of each parent.

Parent coaching

My training in Theraplay and DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy), my extensive experience working therapeutically with children and families combined with my personal experience as an adoptive parent, uniquely equips me to help parents strengthen their skills to support their child’s resilience and mental health.

Additionally, I provide PIPT *(Personalised Individual Parent Training), an evidence-based parenting intervention that helps parents develop skills to reduce their child's oppositional behaviour and dysregulation, and increasing their prosocial behaviour and compliance.

*This programme is suitable to support parents and carers of primary aged children.

ONLINE COACHING

I currently work exclusively online using Zoom. Many people choose online coaching as a flexible alternative to in-person sessions. Research shows that online and face to face coaching has equivalent outcomes. However, there can be differences in how people experience online coaching. I am experienced in working in both ways and will be able to advise if I think working online together is not appropriate.

WHERE TO BEGIN?

The first step is to schedule a free introductory call. This allows us to discuss your needs, answer any questions you may have, and determine if we are the right fit. If we decide to proceed, we will then schedule an assessment session, which will be an opportunity to clarify your goals in more detail and agree on how we will work together. Every coaching contract begins with this initial session to discuss your expectations of coaching, answer questions about the process, and better understand which tools and interventions will be most effective to maximize the impact of our work.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Parent and Family Coaching sessions can be 1 to 1.5 hours and take place fortnightly or monthly. Depending on your goals, a block of 6-12 sessions is usually recommended. We will review progress towards your desired outcome regularly to ensure our work together is as effective as possible. You will be encouraged to apply new insights and strategies in between sessions to bring about positive change.

FEES

£90 per 1 hour session and £150 for 1.5 hour sessions. Fees can either be paid in advance by purchasing a block of sessions. Or, if we decide to work together in an open-ended way, I will be happy to invoice you at the end of each month. Please ensure you have read and understood the terms here.
